PM lends support to fight against breast cancer
25 October 2006
The tie Tony Blair wore at today's Question Time session is to be auctioned to raise funds for breast cancer research.
Approximately 41,000 women and 300 men are newly-diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual national health campaign organised by the major cancer charities to increase knowledge of the disease amongst the public.
They use the month to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention and cure, and offer vital information and support to those affected by it.
To show his support for the campaign, the PM wore a special tie in the House of Commons for his weekly question session, and will be signing it for a charity dinner at the Dorchester Hotel, London, on 9 November.
The dinner is the flagship fundraising event of the year for the special partnership between Lloyds TSB and Breast Cancer Care.
