PM at Caribbean investment summit
2 November 2006
Tony Blair joined his counterparts from Barbados, Belize and Guyana in London to discuss ways of transforming the Caribbean economy.
The conference, promised by the PM at a Commonwealth meeting last year, looked at how to help countries deal with the impact of the reduction in EU sugar subsidies.
Business leaders and potential investors where on hand to look at the financial opportunities and challenges.
The PM told delegates the Caribbean should capitalise on its competitive advantages in tourism and financial services, and consider the development of a single market.
