Tony Blair has held talks with Romano Prodi, the Italian prime minister.
Mr Blair said the two nations had a "very strong" bilateral relationship.
Speaking to journalists afterwards, the PM added:
"We have gone over the ground you would expect us to talk about - the Middle East, Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Israel-Palestine situation - all the issues in which we are so closely concerned."
The PM also welcomed the King and Queen of Jordan to Number 10 today.
