Afternoon press briefing from 13 June 2007

Briefing from the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesman on: Czech PM, Sarkozy and Sinn Fein

Czech PM

Asked what would be discussed at the Prime Minister’s meeting with the Czech Prime Minister later today, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesman (PMOS) replied that the EU treaty would be top of the list.

Sarkozy

Asked for further details of the Sarkozy meeting next week, the PMOS replied that it would provide an opportunity to discuss in advance and in more detail, the run up to the EU Summit at the end of the week. It also gave the Chancellor a chance to meet the French President. But the obvious context was the discussions on the EU Treaty.

Asked if the Chancellor would have his own officials present at the meeting, the PMOS replied that generally with a trilateral, that was all you had.

Sinn Fein

Asked if the Sinn Fein had met with the Prime Minister, the PMOS replied that they had. Obviously it was important, but nothing particularly new was discussed at the meeting.

Asked if all was sweetness and light in Northern Ireland, the PMOS said he didn’t recognise the place - for the better!
