Ben Bradshaw has been MP for Exeter since 1997 and is Minister of State at the Department of Health. He has previously held ministerial posts in DEFRA, as Deputy Leader of the Commons and the Foreign Office.
Before entering Parliament he was an award winning BBC journalist and was the BBC’s Berlin correspondent at the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall and German unification. He began his journalistic career on the Express and Echo in Exeter and also worked for the BBC in the South West.
In his own words:
"I am delighted to be Minister for the South West. It is a fantastic region that has often felt its voice is not heard at the top table. It faces particular challenges but also has enormous opportunities from which it and the rest of the UK can benefit. I look forward to providing the South West with a voice in Government and being a link between central Government and the region’s very diverse communities."
