The PM has said that the UK succeeded in negotiating everything they set out to in Brussels in June.
Speaking during PMQs today, where he resisted calls for a referendum, Mr Brown said that the points the UK argued for were changed in the agreed treaty. He said:
"We succeed when we negotiate in Europe."
The treaty, to be signed later this year, will create a new post of President of Europe and gives the EU a single legal identity, which will allow the Union to sign up to international deals.
The UK successfully argued for an opt-out of the Charter of Fundamental Rights and retained Britain’s independent foreign policy and tax and benefit arrangements.
The British Government can also opt in on the parts of EU judicial and crime policy it chooses.
