Questioned as to whether Stephen Byers’ Statement to the House today was really necessary and if we believed he had successfully drawn a line under the whole affair, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesman (PMOS) said he had nothing further to add to what he had said this morning. The Secretary of State had been quite happy to come to the Commons to address any concerns people might have had.
