I am delighted to have this opportunity to give the British Muslim Community my sincerest best wishes for Eid al-Adha. Eid al-Adha commemorates the Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmail at God’s command. It is a timely reminder of the common heritage of different faiths.
I am proud to be the Prime Minister of a country of many cultures and many faiths. I strongly believe that this diversity of backgrounds and experiences has brought tremendous strengths and benefits to our society.
I would like to say how much I value the positive contributions of Muslims in Britain and I welcome your increased participation in public life over the last few years. I look forward to helping build on this in the future.
With best wishes
Tony Blair
