The Prime Minister has today appointed Professor Martin Daunton as a Trustee of the National Maritime Museum for a term of four years and re-appointed Mr Raymond Miles with effect from 16 April 2002 for a period of four years.
Biographical Notes
Professor Martin Daunton is currently Professor of Economic History at Cambridge University and Chairman of Faculty History and a Fellow of Churchill College. Previously he was Astor Professor British History at University College, London, a former Chairman of the Institute of Historical Research, Vice-President of The Royal Historical Society and a consultant Editor of the New Dictionary of National Biography. Professor Daunton holds no other public appointments and he has not carried out any significant political activity in the past 5 years.
Raymond Miles is a leading figure in the merchant shipping industry, he is Chief Executive of C P Ships. He is one of two National Maritime Museum nominee trustees at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. Mr Miles holds no other public appointments and he has not carried out any significant political activity in the past 5 years.
