I am delighted to have this opportunity to give the British Sikh community my sincerest best wishes for Vasakhi. The principles of the Sikh faith are impressive - equality, social justice, tolerance and respect for other religions.
I am proud to be the Prime Minister of a country of many cultures and many faiths. I strongly believe that this diversity of backgrounds and experiences has brought tremendous strengths and benefits to our society.
The contribution of the Sikh community to the economic, cultural, social and political affairs of Britain is greatly appreciated by all of us in Government. We welcome your increased participation in public life and look forward to helping build on this in the future.
