The Queen has appointed Mr Oliver Crosthwaite Eyre to the post of Official Verderer of the New Forest in succession to Maldwin Drummond OBE DL. This is a statutory position which chairs the New Forest Court of Verderers.
It is mainly concerned with the welfare of the commoners’ animals and the regulation of their grazing in the open part of the Forest.
