Privy Council appointments

The Queen has been pleased to approve that Dawn Primarolo MP, George Foulkes MP and Oliver Letwin MP be sworn of Her Majesty’s most honourable Privy Council.

Dawn Primarolo MP: Member of Parliament for Bristol South since 1987 and HM Paymaster General since 1999. Opposition front bench spokesperson on Health, 1992 to 1994, on Treasury and Economic affairs, 1994 to 1997 and Financial Secretary, HM Treasury, 1997 to 1999.

George Foulkes MP: Member of Parliament for Carrick, Cummock and Doon Valley since 1983 (South Ayrshire, 1979 to 1983) Opposition spokesman on European Affairs, 1983 to 1985, on Foreign Affairs, 1985 to 1992, on Defence, 1992 to 1993, on Overseas Development, 1994 to 1997, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of International Development, 1997 to 2001 and Minister of State, Scotland Office, 2001 to 2002.

Dr Oliver Letwin: Member of Parliament for West Dorset. Shadow Home

Secretary since 2001. Opposition front bench spokesman on constitutional affairs, 1998 to 1999, on Treasury affairs, 1999 to 2000, Shadow Chief Secretary to HM Treasury, 2000 to 2001.
