The Prime Minister has re-appointed the current Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Portrait Gallery, Sir David Scholey CBE, as Trustee of the Gallery with effect from 15 September for a further period of three years.
Biographical Notes
Sir David Scholey CBE became Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the National Portrait Gallery in August 2001, and has been a Trustee since 1992. Senior Adviser at UBS Warburg since 1997, he has been a key player in the financial services sector for more than 40 years. He was a BBC Governor from 1994 till 2000, and has been a member of the Advisory Committee of the LSO since 1998. Sir David has been a Trustee of the Glyndebourne Arts Trust since 1989, and is also a Chairman of the Governors of Wellington College and the NIESR. Sir David holds no other public appointments.
Sir David has not been involved in any political activity in the last five years.
Notes for editors
The National Portrait Gallery houses the collection of portraits in various media of eminent persons in British history. Trustees of the National Portrait Gallery are not remunerated.
Sir David’s second term as a Trustee expires on 14 September 2002. However, he was elected by his fellow Trustees as Chairman of the Board, with effect from 24 August last year. To remain as Chairman, the post holder must have an extant Trustee appointment.
