Appointment of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration and Health Service Commissioner for England

24 July 2002

The Prime Minister is pleased to announce that Ms Ann Abraham is to succeed Sir Michael Buckley as Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration and Health Service Commissioner for England. Her Majesty The Queen has approved the appointment.

Sir Michael Buckley has been Parliamentary Commissioner and Health Service Commissioner since January 1997. On his retirement later this year, Ann Abraham will take up office.

Ann Abraham will cease to be a member of the Committee on Standards on Public Life when she takes up appointment, as the Committee is one of the public bodies whose administrative actions the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration can investigate.
