Suffragan See of Pontefract

The Queen has approved the nomination of the Venerable Anthony William Robinson, Archdeacon of Pontefract in the Diocese of Wakefield, to the Suffragan See of Pontefract in the Diocese of Wakefield in succession to the Right Reverend David Charles James BSc, PhD, on his translation to the See of Bradford.

Notes for Editors

The Venerable Anthony (Tony) Robinson (aged 46) trained for the ordained ministry at Salisbury & Wells Theological College. He served his first curacy at Tottenham St Paul in London from 1982 to 1985. From 1985 to 1989 he served as Team Vicar at Leicester Resurrection in Leicester Diocese and was Team Rector from 1989 to 1995. He was also Priest in charge at Belgrave St Peter from 1994 to 1995. From 1994 to 1997 he was Honorary Canon of Leicester Cathedral and in 1997 he was appointed Archdeacon of Pontefract in the Diocese of Wakefield.

Tony is married to Sue, a professional librarian, and they have three teenage children. He lists sport and theatre as his main interests.
