The Prime Minister has appointed D A Cooper Esq and Anthony Bosanquet Esq as Non-Executive Forestry Commissioners for a term of three years in succession to John Edmonds and Harry Featherstone-Haugh. He has also re-appointed John James Esq as a Non-Executive Forestry Commissioner for a term of three years.
Biographical Notes
D A (Tony) Cooper (57) has wide experience in trade union issues: as a member of the TUC General Council (1996-2000); he is a Commissioner for the Postal Services Commission and General Secretary of the Engineers & Managers Association. He worked for the Forestry Commission as Forest District Manager (1968-71) and in the Planning and Economics Branch (1971-76). Anthony Bosanquet (57) brings wide experience of managing land, having been the owner and manager of the 1200-acre Dingestow Court Estate. He will be President of the Country Land and Business Association until the end of October 2001. He was a member of the Minister’s Welsh Forestry Group (1993-1994); the Home Grown Timber Advisory Committee (1994-1997); and the Welsh Regional Advisory Committee to the Forestry Commission (1995-1999); J D James OBE (51) has been a Forestry Commissioner since 1998. He has been involved in forestry-related issues since becoming the Chief Executive (until 1997) and Public Affairs Adviser (until 1998) of the Woodland Trust in 1977. In 1997 he was Public Affairs Adviser for the Trees of Time and Place Campaign. He is co-owner of the Focus Gallery, Nottingham.
