Lord-Lieutenant for Clwyd

The Queen has appointed Trefor Jones Esq CBE as the Lord-Lieutenant for Clwyd following the retirement of Sir William Gladstone.

Biographical Notes

Mr Jones (63) is a well-known and highly respected local businessman. He was the Chairman and Chief Executive of Pilkington Optronics, a large employer in the Clwyd area which has won The Queens Awards for Industry. Before joining Pilkingtons Mr Jones worked for De Havillands, Hawker Sideley and B.Ae for many years. Mr Jones has held a number of public appointments including Chair of the Wales CBE, Board member of the Welsh Development Agency, member of the Welsh Industrial Development Advisory Board and member of the Clywd Health Authority. Mr Jones has been a Deputy Lieutenant since 1991. Mr Jones is married with three children.
