The Queen has today appointed Mr Garth Morrison CBE as Lord-Lieutenant for the Area of East Lothian following the retirement of Sir Hew Hamilton-Dalrymple Bt KCVO.
Biographical Notes
Mr Morrison (58) has farmed in the area since 1973, after serving for 12 years as an Engineering Officer in the Royal Navy. He has had a long-standing connection with the Scout Movement, having served as Chief Commissioner of Scotland and Chief Scout of the United Kingdom. He is currently a Vice-President of The Scout Association and a member of the World Scout Committee. He has had a long involvement in local administration, most notably as Chairman of the Lothian Primary Care NHS Trust since 1999, and has been Chairman of the South East region of the Scottish Landowners’ Federation. Mr Morrison has been a Deputy Lieutenant since 1984. Mr Morrison is married, with three grown-up children.
