The Queen has approved the re-appointment of Sir Tom Blundell FRS as Chairman of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution for a further period of three years with effect from 30 June.
Biographical Notes
Sir Tom Blundell, born in 1942, is a distinguished life scientist and a Fellow of the Royal Society. He is at present Sir William Dunn Professor and Head of Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge. He was a member of the Advisory Council on Science and Technology (1988-1990), Director General, Agricultural and Food Research Council (1991-1994) and Chief Executive, Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (1994-1996). Notes for Editors The Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution is an independent, standing body established by Royal Warrant, which provides advice on environmental issues to The Queen, the UK Government and Parliament, the devolved administrations, and the public.
