Lord-Lieutenant for the area of Angus

The Queen has appointed Mrs Georgiana Osborne as Lord-Lieutenant for the Area of Angus in succession to The Right Honourable the Earl of Airlie KT GCVO who retires on 17th May.

Biographical Notes

Mrs Osborne (56) was born and brought up in New Zealand and after university qualified as a French teacher. Following her marriage in 1968 to Mr James Osborne, a former Captain in The Black Watch, Royal Highland Regiment, and a Chartered Surveyor, she moved to the United Kingdom. Mrs Osborne has done much work locally for national charities, including, in particular, the British Red Cross. She is currently President of the Tayside Branch and in 1996 was awarded the Badge of Honour for Distinguished Service. Mrs Osborne and her husband farm in Angus and have four grown up children.
