The Prime Minister announced today that Mr Ajab Singh has been re-appointed a Governor of the Museum of London with effect from 23 December 2001 for a further period of four years, and that Dr Mark Patton has been appointed a Governor of the Museum of London with effect from today for a period of four years.

The Museum of London maintains and exhibits collections of the history of London and provides the Museum of London Archaeological Service and the Museum of London Specialist Services. Governors do not receive remuneration.
Biographical Details
Mr Singh was first appointed to the Board of the Museum of London in December 1998 and has served one term. He joined Saatchi & Saatchi in 1987 and now holds the position of senior Art Director and Board Director of the company. He has agreed to renew his partnership with the Museum of London for a further 4 years to assist the Museum with its marketing and advertising at a very exciting time in the Museum’s history.
Dr Patton is Head of the Harrow Business School within the University of Westminster. He studied Archaeology and Anthropology at Clare College, Cambridge and subsequently was awarded a PhD in Anthropology from University College, London. He was Curator of Archaeology at the Jersey Museums Service in the early 1990’s before becoming Senior Lecturer in Heritage Conservation at Trinity College, Carmarthen. In 1998 he became Principal Lecturer and Head of Tourism, Heritage and Arts Management at the University of Greenwich Business School and in 2000 became Assistant Director of the Business School responsible for Quality Management and Curriculum Development.
Dr Patton is a Fellow of the Institute of Management, and the Royal Society of Arts. He is also a Member of the Institute for Learning & Teaching in Higher Education. From 1995 to 1998 he was a Labour Councillor on Carmarthen Town Council and was the Labour Parliamentary Candidate for the Lewes (East Sussex) seat at the 1997 General Election. He remains an active member of the Labour Party.
