Regius Professor of Civil Law, Cambridge University

The Queen has approved that Dr David Ibbetson be appointed Regius Professor of Civil Law in the University of Cambridge following the resignation of Dr David Johnston. The appointment takes effect from 1 October.

Dr Ibbetson (45) has been Fellow and Tutor in Law at Magdalen College Oxford since 1980. Educated at the University of Cambridge (Corpus Christi College) he gained a BA in 1976 (Parts I and II of the Law Tripos) and Ph.D 1980. He has published extensively in a wide number of learned journals and collections, and has recently published the authoritative "Historical Introduction to the Law of Obligations".
