Lord-Lieutenant for the County Borough of Belfast

The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Lady Carswell OBE as Lord-Lieutenant for the County Borough of Belfast on the retirement of Colonel Elliott Wilson on 3rd May.

Biographical Notes

Lady Carswell is a serving deputy lieutenant and actively involved with the local community in Belfast, with a strong interest in heritage and environmental matters. She has held various public appointments, including serving on the Standing Advisory Commission on Human Rights and Industrial Tribunals; and she was a former Deputy Chair to both the Police Complaints Board and the Independent Commission for Police Complaints for Northern Ireland. Lady Carswell is married to the Lord Chief Justice for Northern Ireland.
