The Prime Minister announced today that Dr Paul Murdin’s current appointment as Trustee of the National Maritime Museum has been extended with effect from 13 June for a period of 18 months.

Biographical Notes

Dr Paul Murdin OBE was first appointed to the National Maritime Museum as Trustee in June 1990 and is currently serving his second term. Dr Murdin (born 1942) is Head of Astronomy at the Particle Physics and Astronomical Research Council, Director of Science at the British National Space Centre and member of the Royal Astronomical Society. He is also President of the Faulkes Telescope Corporation. Dr Murdin holds no other public appointments and has not carried out any significant political activity in the last 5 years.

The National Maritime Museum illustrates the story of Britain and the Sea and the theme of Time through the its pre-eminent collections. It includes the Queens House and the Royal Observatory Greenwich. Trustees do not receive remuneration.
