The NHMF is also responsible for the distribution of the heritage share of the proceeds from the National Lottery which it does via the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). The HLF gives financial help to projects which safeguard improved access to land, buildings, objects and collections of importance to the national heritage of the UK. It can also provide support for projects which produce wider public benefits in terms of education, access and urban regeneration. Trustee posts can be remunerated.
