Suffragan See of Birkenhead

The Queen has approved that the Reverend Canon David Andrew Urquhart BA, Rector of Holy Trinity, Coventry in the Diocese of Coventry, be appointed to the Suffragan See of Birkenhead in the Diocese of Chester in succession to the Right Reverend Michael Laurence Langrish BsocSc on his translation to the Bishopric of Exeter.

Canon Urquhart (born 1952) studied theology at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. He served his first curacy at St Nicholas, Kingston upon Hull in the Diocese of York. From 1987 to 1992 he was Team Vicar at Drypool, in Hull, before moving to his present post as Vicar of Holy Trinity, Coventry. In 1971 he spent a year as a volunteer working in Uganda, on his return he worked for BP for ten years in commercial management. Since 1994 he has been Chairman of the Church Mission Society. Canon Urquhart is single. His recreations include sport and travel.
