The Queen has been pleased to approve that The Right Honourable Sir Richard Scott, Vice-Chancellor, and The Right Honourable Sir Andrew Morritt CVO, Lord Justice of Appeal, take up their appointments as a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary and Vice-Chancellor respectively on 17 July.
The Queen has also been pleased to approve that the Honourable Mr Justice Parker, a Justice of the High Court, assigned to the Chancery Division, be appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal in succession to The Right Honourable Sir Andrew Morritt CVO.
The Queen has also been pleased to approve that the Honourable Mrs Justice Arden DBE, a Justice of the High Court, assigned to the Chancery Division, be appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal in succession to The Right Honourable Lord Justice Swinton Thomas who retires on 1 October.
The Queen has also been pleased to approve that the Honourable Mr Justice Keene, a Justice of the High Court, assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division, be appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal in succession to The Right Honourable Lord Justice Roch who retires on 1 November.
The Queen has also been pleased to approve that the Honourable Mr Justice Dyson, a Justice of the High Court, assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division, be appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal in succession to The Right Honourable Lord Justice Nourse who retires on 10 January 2001.
The Queen has also been pleased to approve that the Honourable Mr Justice Longmore, a Justice of the High Court, assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division, be appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal in succession to The Right Honourable Lord Justice Otton who retires on 10 January 2001.

The Right Honourable Sir Richard Scott (born 2 October 1934) has been Vice-Chancellor since 1994. He was appointed a Justice of the High Court (Chancery Division) in 1983 and a Lord Justice of Appeal in 1991. The Right Honourable Sir Andrew Morritt CVO (born 5 February 1938) was appointed to the High Court Bench (Chancery Division) in 1988 and has been a Lord Justice of Appeal since 1994. The Honourable Mr Justice (Jonathan) Parker (born 8 December 1937) was called to the Bar in 1962, took Silk in 1979, and was appointed to the High Court Bench (Chancery Division) in 1991. The Honourable Mrs Justice (Mary) Arden DBE (born 23 January 1947) was called to the Bar in 1971, took Silk in 1986, and was appointed a Justice of the High Court (Chancery Division) in 1993. The Honourable Mr Justice (John) Dyson (born 31 July 1943) was called to the Bar in 1968, took Silk in 1982, and was appointed a Justice of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) in 1993. The Honourable Mr Justice (David) Keene (born 15 April 1941) was called to the Bar in 1964, took Silk in 1980, and was appointed a Justice of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) in 1994. The Right Honourable Lord Justice (John) Roch (born 19 April 1934) has been a Lord Justice of Appeal since 1993. He was appointed a Justice of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) in 1985. He served as a Presiding Judge of the Wales and Chester Circuit from 1986 to 1990. The Right Honourable Lord Justice (Martin) Nourse (born 3 April 1932) has been a Lord Justice of Appeal since 1985. He is currently Vice-President of the Court of Appeal (Civil Division) and is acting as Master of the Rolls until 1 October. He was appointed a Justice of the High Court (Chancery Division) in 1980. The Right Honourable Lord Justice (Philip) Otton (born 28 May 1933) has been a Lord Justice of Appeal since 1995. He was appointed a Justice of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) in 1983. He served as a Presiding Judge of the Midland and Oxford Circuit from 1986 to 1988.
