The Queen has been pleased to approve that the Convocations of Canterbury and York be dissolved, in accordance with the provisions of the Church of England Convocations Act 1966, on 12 July 2000.
Notes for Editors
The Church of England Convocations Act 1966 provides that " the Convocations of Canterbury and York may be called together and dissolved at such times as Her Majesty may determine". The present General Synod will be holding its last group of sessions from 7 to 11 July. The dissolution of the Convocations on 12 July has been approved so that the necessary elections can take place before the new General Synod is inaugurated on 14 November.
