The Queen has today appointed Mr Hugh Duberly CBE as Lord-Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire following the retirement of Mr James Crowden CVO.

Biographical Details

Hugh Duberly (61) farms in Cambridgeshire. He is extensively engaged in voluntary work in Cambridgeshire, notably chairing the Papworth Trust, which works with disabled people, and chairing the Ely Diocesan Board of Finance. Mr Duberly has been a Commissioner of the Crown Estate since 2002 and is a past President of the Country Landowners’ Association. He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire in 1992 and was the High Sheriff of the county between 1991 and 92.

Mr Duberly is an independent councillor on Huntingdon District Council but has announced his intention to stand down at the elections next year.

Mr Duberly is married to Sarah and they have 3 grown-up children.
