Housing market gets official stats
A Government backed analysis of the UK housing market will help house-owners gauge the value of their property by providing a wide range of monthly figures.
The new index concentrates on data from more than fifty mortgage lenders, and will be available for the first time on Monday.
It will provide average house prices and inflation figures for:
- the UK;
- England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland;
- each of the Government Office regions of England; and
- the UK, excluding London.
Housing Minister Keith Hill said the monthly house price index reflected considerable interest in the UK property market.
“Interest in the private housing market continues undiminished and this new, official house price index is an exciting development that will provide a clearer indication of the state of the market.”
The next three release dates are:
- Monday 13 October
- Monday 10 November
- Monday 8 December
