Lord Justice of Appeal

The Queen has been pleased to approve that The Honourable Mr Justice Gage be appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal from 23 September 2004 following the recent death of Lord Justice Kay.

Biographical Notes

The Honourable Mr Justice (William) Gage (66) was called to the Bar, Inner Temple, in 1963 and elected a Bencher in 1991. He took Silk in 1982 and from 1985 to 1993 he was a recorder. He has been a Judge of the Queen’s Bench division since 1993 and from 1997 to 2000 he was a Presiding Judge of the South Eastern Circuit. Since 1980 he has been Chancellor of the Diocese of Coventry and Chancellor of the Diocese of Ely since 1989.
