Tony Blair met with Maltese Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi in Downing Street today for talks.
The meeting was held a one month ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Malta, which will be attended by both leaders.
Speaking to journalists afterwards, Dr Gonzi said:
"We want Europe to move forward and to respond to globalisation.
"We want to see a modernised Europe. We want to see a Europe that is able to win the challenges we are facing today."
Both leaders also stressed that Britain and Malta have a ’strong relationship’.
