PM offers thanks to organisers of G8 summit

Tony Blair chats with police officers at a G8 reception in Downing StreetTo recognise their ‘hard work and commitment’, Tony Blair has hosted a reception for those who helped organise this year’s Gleneagles summit.

Police, ambulance staff and other civil servants who have been involved with the G8 and EU Presidencies this year visited Number 10.  

Mr Blair said Gleneagles, where world leaders gathered to disucss major issues, had been ‘a remarkably organised affair’. He told the guests it was ‘down to your hard work and commitment that it was a success’.

Agreements were reached at the summit on helping Africa and tackling climate change.
