PM makes changes to Cabinet

Tony Blair has reshuffled his Cabinet. Major appointments include Margaret Beckett replacing Jack Straw to become the first woman Foreign Secretary.

John Reid has moved to the Home Office to replace Charles Clarke who has returned to the backbenches.

Meanwhile, Alan Johnson takes over as Education Secretary with Ruth Kelly heading up the new Department for Communities and Local Government.

These appointments are now confirmed
