PM explores cultural and sporting links in China
6 September 2005
Tony Blair is on the second day of his visit to Beijing, arranged as part of the UK's European Union presidency programme.
Having taken part yesterday in trade talks to solve the textile dispute between China and the EU, the focus today will switch to cultural, educational and sporting links.
Mr Blair will attend a series of events including a soccer master class with ex-England boss Sir Bobby Robson and a dance session led by Royal Ballet principal ballerina Darcey Bussell.
Award-winning architect Lord Foster and 'Four Weddings' film director Richard Curtis will also lead workshops.
The Prime Minister will help launch China's first foreign independent university, twinning a campus with Nottingham allowing students to graduate with a UK degree.
Later today he travels to India to lead EU talks there before a separate UK summit in New Delhi on Thursday.
